The reason the folks on our production team look so similar is because they are all the same person. Semicolon Pictures founder Vincent Liota is a Swiss Army knife of filmmaking. He's spent decades honing the crafts of cinematography, directing and producing.

DIRECTOR

Among his credits, Vincent directed hosts Neil deGrasse Tyson and Robert Krulwich on the PBS program Nova scienceNow in all of their on-set appearances and his own feature-length documentary Objects, now streaming on many platforms. He was twice selected as a Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute Conservatory. He studied filmmaking at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned a BFA.

CINEMATOGRAPHER

Vincent launched his career as a news cameraman, covering everything from hard news to features for a decade. He began at NBC's affiliate in Norfolk, VA, before moving to the ABC station in New Haven, CT. Vincent has freelanced for major networks like PBS, NBC, and ABC News. He's experienced in both studio and location lighting and cinematography, and has a broad technical range; from Éclair, Arriflex and CP 16mm cameras to Sony and RCA analog video cameras, to Sony, Red and Arri digital cameras.

PRODUCER

Vin has been a long-time player in the world of science journalism. Serving as the senior series producer for NOVA scienceNOW on PBS, his knack for storytelling has earned him an MIT Knight Science Journalism fellowship.
