IN PRODUCTION

Return of the Dog Children is a documentary aiming to reframe the story of Arctic exploration by focusing on the Inuit perspective. Challenging the Euro-American glorification of explorers, the film uses the Inuit's own tales and viewpoints to present a narrative that questions ‘western’ definitions of heroism. It focuses on the Inuit's relationship with Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, who attributed his many successes (first to navigate the Northwest Passage, first to the North and South Poles) to their wisdom and teachings, yet remains under-recognized in the South. Through fantastical imagery and cultural critique, the film seeks to question prevailing stereotypes and prompt viewers to see themselves as the true outsiders in the Arctic landscape. The project aims for a fresh, introspective look at history, culture, and what constitutes genuine heroism.
